FOG BLOG TOKYO OLYMPICS LOG: CANADIANS CAPTURE ANOTHER BRONZE MEDAL.....G-2, S-3 , B-5, TOTAL- 10.

THE LADIES COME THROUGH AGAIN!....Canada wins bronze medal in women’s pair rowing at Tokyo Olympics...Canadian rowers Caileigh Filmer and Hillary Janssens have won the bronze medal in the women’s pair race at the Tokyo Olympics.

The duo led for most of the race before New Zealand slowly but surely overtook them in the back half and continued into a gold medal win. The Russian Olympic Committee’s pair narrowly edged out Canada to take the silver at the end of the race.

Canada finished with a time of 6:52.10, just over a second behind the ROC.

It marks the first medal won by Canada in rowing during this year’s Summer Games........It’s also the first Olympic medal won by both Filmer and Janssens, the latter of whom is making her Olympic debut in Tokyo.

Filmer came in fifth place at the 2016 Games in Rio when she was a member of the women’s eight rowing team.

Canada is looking to bounce back from those 2016 Games, where the rowing team nabbed just one medal.

Right before Filmer and Janssens’ race, Conlin McCabe and Kai Langerfeld came heartbreakingly close to securing their own place on the medal podium, placing fourth in the men’s pair final with less than a second separating them from the bronze.

Canada’s women’s eight will race for a gold Friday.
