Canada’s medal winners in Tokyo: Here’s who picked up the gold, silver and bronze
TOKYO -- Weightlifter Maude Charron has won Canada's second gold medal at the Tokyo Games. Charron, from Rimouski, Que., finished first in the women's 64-kilogram competition after a successful lift of 131 kilograms on her third and final clean and jerk attempt...Canada currently stands at 8th position in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with eight medals in total including two gold, three silver, and three bronze medals.......The 28-year-old weightlifter from Rimouski, Que. lifted a total of 236 kg as she captured Canada's second gold medal at the Games. Charron began weightlifting at 19 years old and has since brought home a number of gold medals as she continues to break records in the sport. She was awarded gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, gold at the 2018 World University Championships and the IWF Grand Prix in Lima before clinching gold at the Pan American championship in April. Here she broke continental records for the 64 kg weigh class in snatch, clean and jerk...
