FOG BLOG SPORTS LOG: JAYS PLAYERS HELP LIFT A.L. TO A 5-2 WIN OVER N.L. VLADIMIR GUERRERO WINS MVP!

MLB All-Star Game: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. wins MVP; AL beats NL....GUERRERO hit a 468-foot home run in the third inning, helping push the American League to a 5-2 win over the National League on Tuesday night in the 2021 MLB All-Star Game. With the win, the AL has now won eight consecutive All-Star Games, improving its overall record to 46-43 against the NL.

For his efforts, which also included driving in another run via a groundout in the fifth, Guerrero Jr. became the youngest All-Star Game MVP in MLB history at 22 years, 119 days. After Tuesday night, the Guerreros joined the Bonds (Bobby and Barry) and the Griffeys (Ken Sr. and Ken Jr.) as the only father-son duos to hit home runs in the All-Star Game.

Tampa Bay's Mike Zunino also got in on the home-run action by going yard in the sixth inning, while Philadelphia's J.T. Realmuto hit the game's third home run in the fifth inning for the NL. The AL had nine hits compared to the NL's eight.

A night removed from participating in the Home Run Derby, the Angels' Shohei Ohtani was given the win after starting the game for the AL, while Washington's Max Scherzer was the starter for the NL. No AL pitcher went beyond an inning pitched; Milwaukee's Corbin Burnes was the lone pitcher of the game to go longer than that by throwing two frames..
