THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN IN SAINT JOHN 3 YRS AGO WHEN A MAN FROM BOUCTOUCHE WAS DRIVING HIS CAR AND THE WHOLE CAR GOT SWALLOWED BY A GIGANTIC POTHOLE, HE WAS MISSING FOR 3 DAYS!..........City Crews Working To Repair Potholes.........A break in winter storms means Saint John city crews have been able to turn their attention to repairing potholes.

The city says recent back-to-back storms have led to a high number of potholes on several roadways.

“These potholes are caused by fluctuating temperatures, extensive snow clearing efforts and overall traffic,” the city said in a news release.

Officials noted a high number of freeze-thaw cycles so far this winter has also increased the damage to roads.

The city has a Winter Asphalt Maintenance Service which provides emergency repair of street defects and potholes.

“Due to the quantity and severity of winter storms so far this year City crews have been focused on snow clearing and removal, which impacts the ability to also allocate resources to pothole repair,” said the city.

Crews monitor roads routinely to ensure any hazards are repaired as quickly as reasonably possible.

You can also report potholes by calling 506-658-4455, emailing service@saintjohn.ca, or completing a service request form on the city’s website.
