FOG BLOG RIVER WATCH NB LOG: PERTH-ANDOVER SPARED WORST FLOODING, OTHER AREAS RECEDING:

IT WAS A HARROWING TIME FOR RESIDENTS OF PERTH - ANDOVER LAST WEEK AND THEY ANTICIPATED MAJOR FLOODING FROM THE ICE JAM BUILDING UP. LUCKILY , THE ICE JAM BROKE UP AND THE FLOODING WAS MINOR IN SCOPE. THIS YEAR'S FLOODING ALL ALONG THE SAINT JOHN RIVER WAS NOT OF THE SCALE WE'VE SEEN IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS WITH A WARMER THAN NORMAL WINTER AND LOW SNOW LEVELS. THERE WAS FLOODING AND ALSO IN AREAS DOWNSTREAM AROUND FREDERICTON AND VIRTUALLY NONE IN THE SAINT JOHN AREA! THE THREAT IS NOW PAST AND THE WATER LEVELS ARE RECEDING, IF WEATHER CONDITIONS HOLD AND THE WARM UP CONTINUES WITH MORE SUNNY DAYS , WE CAN SAY GOODBYE TO FLOODING THIS YEAR!
