FOG BLOG RIDICULOG: TOO MANY VINTAGE CHURCHES BEING TORN DOWN, TIME FOR THEM TO BE UNDER HERITAGE!
FIRST OFF, THE PHOTO YOU SEE IN THIS ARTICLE SHOWS ON THE RIGHT , ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH OFF OF DOUGLAS AV AND ON THE LEFT AFTER IT WAS TORN DOWN. NOW I UNDERSTAND THAT THESE 100 AND 200 YEAR OLD CHURCHES ARE IN GREAT DISREPAIR AND NEED LOTS OF MONEY TO REPAIR THEM! LATELY THERE HAS BEEN THE GOTHIC ARCHES UPTOWN, LANCASTER BAPTIST CHURCH AND TORCH FOR TRUTH TABERNACLE BOTH WEST SIDE AND NOW ST. PETER'S. TORCH FOR TRUTH WAS SAD BECAUSE THEY HAD A BAD OIL LEAK AND EVERYTHING NEEDED DIGGING UP BECAUSE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. GOTHIC ARCHES AND ST. PETER'S THOUGH ARE GOOD EXAMPLES OF HAVING THEM DESIGNATED HERITAGE , NOW THEY DO DO THAT IN SOME CASES AND THAT MEANS THEY HAVE TO SPEND MORE MONEY TO FIX THEM UP UNDER THE HERITAGE GUIDELINES. THE CITY CLAIMS IT NEEDS TOURISM DOLLARS AND IT HAS BEEN ON THE NEWS THAT PEOPLE COMING IN FROM THE STATES AND OTHER AREAS WANT TO SEE THIS HERITAGE AND GO ON THE BUS TOURS TO SEE THESE OLD HOMES, CHURCHES ETC. MAYBE THE NB GOVERNMENT CAN HELP WITH REPAIRS UNDER THE HERITAGE ACT . ALSO I KNOW THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE A PURPOSE AND TENANTS FOR THESE BUILDINGS AND THEY CAN'T STAY VACANT . THERE MUST BE A WAY TO COMPLY TO ALL THIS SO WE HAVE HERITAGE THAT WE CAN BE PROUD OF FOR US AND THE TOURISTS !
