FOG BLOG PUTIN'S WAR LOG: RUSSIANS DESTROY AIRPORT IN DNIPRO , PUTIN INSTALLS NEW GENERAL!

Ukraine news - live: Russian rockets destroy Dnipro airport as Zelensky pushes for oil embargo...........Volodymyr Zelensky urged the west to impose a complete embargo on Russian energy........Russian rockets have hit and destroyed Dnipro airport in the east of Ukraine, Ukrainian officials have confirmed.

Rockets fired into Ukraine’s Luhansk and Dnipro regions on Sunday completely destroyed an airport and have potentially left casualties.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Russia’s aggression was a “catastrophe” not just limited to Ukraine, suggesting that the whole of Europe was a target.

Mr Zelensky also urged the west to impose a complete embargo on Russian energy products and to supply Ukraine with more weapons. “Oil is one of the two sources of Russian self-confidence, their sense of impunity,” he said.

This comes a day after Boris Johnson’s surprise visit to Ukraine’s capital to meet Mr Zelensky in person is his first since Vladimir Putin launched the Russian invasion on 24 February. He said it was to show “unwavering support” for Ukraine..........Russia installs new Ukraine war commander, U.S. official says.................WASHINGTON (AP) — After its striking post-invasion setbacks, Russia has appointed a new Ukraine war commander, a U.S. official said Sunday.

Russia has turned to Gen. Alexander Dvornikov, 60, one of Russia’s most experienced military officers and — according to U.S. officials — a general with a record of brutality against civilians in Syria and other war theaters. The senior official who identified the new commander was not authorized to be identified and spoke on condition of anonymity.

But the White House national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said “no appointment of any general can erase the fact that Russia has already faced a strategic failure in Ukraine.”

“This general will just be another author of crimes and brutality against Ukrainian civilians,” Sullivan told CNN’s “State of the Union.” “And the United States, as I said before, is determined to do all that we can to support Ukrainians as they resist him and they resist the forces that he commands.”
