FOG BLOG NB RIVERWATCH LOG: WITH COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPS NOT MUCH NOW BUT KEEP WATCH!

THE WEATHER FOR THE 1ST WEEK OF OFFICIAL SPRING SEES TEMPERATURES AROUND THE PROVINCE NOT REACHING HIGHER THAN MID TO HIGH SINGLE DIGITS , MAKING THE SNOW MELT SLOW AND RESULTING RUNOFF INTO THE BIGGER RIVERS SUCH AS THE SAINT JOHN, KENNEBECASIS AND THE TRIBUTARIES SMALL AND SLOW. THERE IS HOWEVER SOMETHING TO KEEP AN EYE ON. IN THE SOUTH STORMS OR SYSTEMS MOVING IN HAVE BEEN MOSTLY RAIN LATELY BUT FREDERICTON AND NORTH AND NORTH EAST OF THE PROVINCE HAVE SEEN A LOT MORE SNOW EVENTS RESULTING IN HIGHER SNOW PACKS. WHEN THE TEMPERATURES DO GO UP IT WILL RESULT IN A FASTER MELT AND THAT IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP AN EYE ON REGARDING THE FLOOD RISK DOWNSTREAM ESPECIALLY IN FREDERICTON AND FURTHER SOUTH!
