Police give sheltering Moncton residents all-clear after day-long response to gunshots...Some schools in area were either at hold and secure status or in lockdown.......Residents in the Centennial Park area of Moncton who were kept inside most of the day while RCMP investigated a gunshot report got word Thursday evening that the police operation was over.

"Residents may exit their homes and return to normal activities," RCMP said in an Alert Ready message at 6 p.m.

Police have provided few details about the gunshots or the investigation, and when it was over, they did not immediately say if anyone was arrested. Police described the gunshot report as "credible" and said no one was injured.

Gunshots were reported at about 8:30 a.m., prompting police to seal off the area and advise residents to stay inside their homes and away from windows.
