Man charged in fatal Sask. stabbings found dead, other accused still at large, RCMP say Lana Head, one of the deceased from James Smith Cree Nation, was security guard, ex-partner confirms One of the two accused RCMP are seeking in connection with a string of fatal stabbings in Saskatchewan on Sunday has been found dead, police confirmed Monday.

Rhonda Blackmore, commanding officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP, said Damien Sanderson, 31, was found dead with wounds that did not appear to be self-inflicted. Saskatchewan RCMP have charged two people being sought by police and the injury toll has risen to 18 after 10 people were fatally stabbed Sunday in various locations in the province, including James Smith Cree Nation.

Police from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are searching for Myles Sanderson, 30, and Damien Sanderson, 31, after the attacks prompted a dangerous-persons alert.

  • Police are expected to provide an update at 3:30 p.m. CST in Regina on their investigation.

"To the people of Saskatchewan and beyond, please be assured that we are using every human, investigational and technological resource we have available to locate and arrest the persons responsible for this tragedy and to ensure your safety," said Rhonda Blackmore, commanding officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP. Lana Head, 49, is one of the deceased from James Smith Cree Nation. She leaves behind daughters Sable, 31, and Sage, 30.
