The body of a woman was recovered from a mudslide on Highway 99 near Lillooet, British Columbia, about 150 miles northeast of Vancouver, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement on Tuesday.
In Abbotsford, a city of about 162,000 people near the border between Canada and the United States, the police chief, Mike Serr, said on Wednesday that at least 184 people had been evacuated from about 40 properties overnight, and that boats would be deployed to pick up another 300 residents.
“We are going to be working through that all morning,” he said at a news conference.
