1 dead, 3 hurt after police allege driver may have struck people intentionally

Toronto police say driver is in custody, no word on charges at this time A woman is dead after Toronto police say a driver may have intentionally used their vehicle to hit four people in North York on Wednesday.

The driver is in custody. Police said the other three people struck, including a woman who also suffered critical injuries, are expected to survive.

"There is some information that these people were struck intentionally," Insp. Keri Fernandes said in an afternoon news conference.

Police said the incident happened around 12:40 p.m. in a parking lot off Cassandra Boulevard, west of Victoria Park Avenue and south of Parkwoods Village Drive.

Toronto police's homicide unit is set to investigate. There's no word on criminal charges.
