Accused Manitoba serial killer charged with murdering three more Indigenous women
On Thursday, Police appealed for help at a press conference in identifying the fourth victim, who they believe was an Indigenous female in her mid-20s Winnipeg Police say a serial killer is behind the murder of four Indigenous women slain between March and May of this year. Jeremy Skibicki, 35, is facing four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Rebecca Contois, 24, Morgan Harris, 39, Marcedes Myran, 26, and a fourth woman who has not been identified. Skibicki was suspected of killing Contois in May and taken into custody after her partial remains were found in a garbage disposal bin near an apartment building in north Winnipeg. More of Contois’ remains were found at the city landfill in June.
The other three victims were killed before Contois, with Myran and Harris, both from Long Plain First Nation, killed within days of each other last May, police say. Contois, of Winnipeg, was a member of O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi First Nation, also known as Crane River.
Police believe the unidentified woman was also Indigenous. They believe she was killed on or about March 15.
