FOG BLOG ATLANTIC COVID 19 LOG: 6 NEW CASES IN NB AND 165 NEW CASES IN NOVA SCOTIA!

N.B. COVID-19 roundup: 6 new cases reported Sunday...There are now 141 active cases in the province...New Brunswick Public Health reported a total of six new cases of COVID-19 in three zones Sunday.

One case is related to travel, another was a contact of a previously confirmed case and the other cases are under investigation, Public Health said in a news release.

There are now 141 active cases in the province. New Brunswick reported its 41st COVID-related death on Saturday.

There have been 2,002 confirmed cases in New Brunswick and 1,819 recoveries.

The breakdown of new cases is as follows:

Moncton region, Zone 1: three cases:

  • Two people 20-29.

  • A person 30-39.

These cases are under investigation.

Saint John region, Zone 2: one case:

  • A person 40-49.

The case is a contact of a previously confirmed case.

Fredericton region, Zone 3: two cases:

  • A person 30-39.

  • A person 50-59.

One of the cases is related to travel and the other is under investigation...Nova Scotia reports 165 new COVID-19 cases Sunday........Nova Scotia is reporting 165 new cases of COVID-19 today, May 9.


There are 138 cases in Central Zone, 16 in Eastern Zone, six in Western Zone and five in Northern Zone.


"Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there and to those that play the role. For the second year in a row, Mother's Day will be much different than we are used to," said Premier Iain Rankin. "Thank you for adjusting your celebrations to be as safe as possible."


One case in Central Zone is a homecare staff member with Northwood in Halifax. Followup is being done with clients and staff.


There is community spread in Central Zone. The Eastern, Northern and Western Zones continue to be closely monitored for community spread.


Public health continues to work through the backlog of positive cases that need to be contacted and entered into Panorama, the data system. To allow for timely notification, public health is contacting confirmed positive COVID-19 cases and close contacts by text message when possible. Nova Scotia Health has created a team that is immediately calling all positive cases to advise they are positive and determine whether they need supports. Public health will continue to do detailed follow up on cases and contacts as soon as they are able.
