SAINT JOHN NB IS CELEBRATING REMEMBRANCE WEEK AND LEADING UP TO THE NOV. 11TH CEREMONIES IN A BIG WAY BY UNVEILING A REFURBISHED ARTILLERY GUN NEAR THE NEW FORT LATOUR AND IN ANOTHER AREA RECENTLY .....PLANTING 1.1 MILLION TULIP BULBS WHICH WILL BLOOM NEXT SPRING FOR THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE LIBERATION OF HOLLAND DURING THE 2ND WORLD WAR!...........The full thing in all its glory! This 105mm gun is similar to those historically used by the New Brunswick artillery. The monument also features a time capsule, a sandbag wall, and a bench with the Royal Artillery’s motto: Ubique. The monument faced several road blocks along the way, including having to move from its original site after a 17th century artifact was uncovered during construction.“We immediately stopped and consulted with the Heritage branch of the province of New Brunswick. That site is now protected and will be preserved for the future,” said John Irving, an honourary colonel with the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment.SAINT JOHN -- Tulips are synonymous with the Netherlands and now thousands of special tulips are being planted to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands at the end of the Second World War.Under a bright autumn sun, 93-year-old Aubrey Moore lends a helping hand planting tulip bulbs outside a nursing home in east Saint John.If Mother Nature is on their side, the bulbs will bloom when the weather warms up next year -- just in time to mark a major historical milestone.
