Fog Blog Ridiculog: Neglected Heritage Buildings:

THIS WEEK , ITS ABOUT PEOPLE WHO HAVE MONEY BUT HAVE NO BUSINESS BUYING PROPERTIES , ESPECIALLY HISTORIC ONES...BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!A historic and long-vacant 137 year old stone church in the heart of Saint John may be facing its final days. The former Centenary Queen Square United Church, now known as the Gothic Arches, has been sold to a local developer. ... They struggled to find a buyer, until Saint John landlord Phillip Huggard purchased it. The developer wanted to incorporate the structure into his plans for housing but after weeks and weeks of inspections the structure is too far gone. He , though intends to incorporate stained glass and stone from the building into his new development....my hats off to this man who cares.....who even wanted to save the building! I can't stand the owners who neglect beautiful old buildings! Time , even though markets are slow , to be selective as to who buys heritage properties ....then maybe they will take care of them. Whatever is left over from the demolition of the 'Gothic Arches' will no doubt look nice in the new development because Mr. Huggard wants to incorporate the look of the development to blend in with the classic look of the area.....hats off and good luck to you!
