ONCE AGAIN , OBEYING THE RED FLASHING LIGHTS AND EXTENDED STOP SIGNS FOR DRIVERS HERE IN SAINT JOHN AND AROUND THE MARITIMES IS BACK IN THE NEWS! THE POLICE , RECENTLY HERE, SET UP ON SEVERAL CITY STREETS , STOPPING DRIVERS AND HANDING OUT INFORMATION SHEETS TO HELP REMIND DRIVERS THAT YOU HAVE TO STOP IN BOTH DIRECTIONS WHEN RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS FLASHING! THE PICTURE , NOT HERE IN SAINT JOHN BY THE WAY , SHOWS IT PLAINLY THAT PEOPLE STILL TRY TO PASS SCHOOL BUSES WHILE THE RED LIGHTS FLASH! I usually stop for the yellow flashers for safe measure. I know there are exceptions , like for 4 lanes with a cement median! You have to stop on the same side as the bus but not on the other side of the cement barrier! The Saint John police have stated that there are still lots of people not obeying the school bus safety rules!!

It's good to know the basics and everyone should! Its for your own good and the safety of the children....can you imagine hitting a child just coming off the bus....it would affect you forever.....!! Learn the facts and be smart....Keep children safe!
