Fog Blog Ridiculog: Garden Wood Chip Fires:

NOW THAT WE ARE IN THE WARMER DOG DAYS OF SUMMER THERE ISN'T AS MUCH RAIN AS THERE HAS BEEN AND THE GROUND IS DRYER. THE FIRE RISK IS NOW SPIKING AND HAZARDS THAT CAN CAUSE FIRES HAVE TO BE TAKEN NOTE OF!......THESE WOOD CHIPS THAT YOU SEE ALL AROUND IN BUSINESS AND HOME GARDENS ARE MORE POPULAR THAN EVER , THEY COME IN DIFFERENT TYPES BUT THE BLACK BARK LIKE CHIPS ARE POPULAR!.....PETER SLIP OF FREDERCTON IS A HERO AS HE AND HIS FAMILY ON VACATION SAW THE START OF A HOTEL FIRE IN P.E.I AND SAVED AN ELDERLY MAN , THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS THE COMBUSTION OF THESE WOOD CHIPS IN A GARDEN AREA IN THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL. LIKELY A DISCARDED CIGARETTE BUTT CAUSED THE FIRE. These chips dry out quickly and light up fast. The fires caused by combustion of these chips are on the rise! I think they are ugly. They dry out blow around in the wind. I would rather them being added to compost than used in gardens. I would like to see the return to the black soil with plants and flowers planted, neater and doesn't blow around or catch fire than see the return of this story to the Ridiculog!
