PAUL DAERES SEEMS TO ME TO BE THE TYPE OF PERSON THAT LETS HIS BUILDINGS GO INTO A STATE OF DISREPAIR AND THEN.....POOF.....PUT UP A PARKING LOT.......WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO THE OLD PARAMOUNT THERE WAS A LAST MINUTE APPROACH BY A LOCAL GROUP TO SAVE IT...BUT DAERES DID NOT WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN....HE DID NOT AID THE GROUP IN ANY WAY AND SAINT JOHN AS A WHOLE WERE THE LOSERS.....THERE WAS PROMISE IN THIS ENDEAVOUR TO BRING VIBRANCY TO THE UPTOWN. WHEN IT WAS TORN DOWN AND THE PARKING LOT MADE HE AGAIN CRIED THE BLUES COMPLAINING THAT THE CITY WAS AFTER HIM TO KEEP UP HIS LOT .....WE CAN'T HAVE IT ALL!........I would imagine that the city of Saint John would have been open to ideas if there were any. In a lot of other cities there are central bus terminals where the drivers waiting for other connector buses can take a break , get a snack and coffee. This would have been a great spot.......building a small terminal building would have given the riders a place to wait out of the elements for buses , the buses already have spots to park.....This would have been great for drivers who have a hard time on some routes to get a break for coffee , bathroom etc and riders to have same and wait for buses.....the city might have been happy to get in on the venture like the Falls Restaurant restoration!! Time to use the brain Daeres....you could have done good here.....you get an F for your effort and get on this week's Ridiculog!
