ALTHOUGH COLD .....OUR CHRISTMAS IN MOST MARITIME LOCATIONS WAS IDEAL WITH LOTS OF BRIGHT SUNSHINE BUT ANOTHER STORM IS NOW UPON US!........Snow is moving into the Maritimes with Rain in behind and rising temps....some areas will get 10-15 cm of snow and ice pellets and freezing rain before the switchover........Snow continuing this evening with total snowfall amounts of 10-15 cm expected. Snow is then expected to changeover to pellets then freezing rain beginning in the southwest this evening and spread to the northeast by early Saturday morning. Freezing rain will last for most of the evening in the south, and well into the overnight hours in the north. The freezing rain will then change to rain or drizzle as temperatures rise above the freezing mark overnight in the south, and towards Saturday morning in the north.Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
