THIS WEEK ITS SAD THAT WE HAVE TO REVISIT SCHOOL BUS SAFETY 101 WHEN IT COMES TO DRIVERS NOT OBEYING FLASHING LIGHTS AND FLASHING STOP SIGNS....WHAT MORE DO WE NEED ...NEON LIGHTS?! The Ridiculog has tackled this topic a few times since its inception a few years ago! This time is ridiculous! A youngster who will be on the mend , thank God was struck by an SUV in Irishtown NB recently while boarding the bus .....at this time the flashing red lights would be engaged and you being behind the bus has to stop by LAW!!!!!! This is why there are flashing lights and laws in place because it is not safe to proceed, you put lives in danger....case in point ....this incident. I am grateful that this lad will be o.k. and he was so brave too in the story on tv news. I always stop for even the yellow flashing lights! I want to keep these kids safe! I know there are rules , some can proceed with yellow flashers on and with a median strip. In this case the SUV was passing the bus and hit the child, the red flashers and flashing stop signs would be engaged! PEI is getting tough with bigger fines and longer licence suspensions! We need that here and right now. Obey the laws regarding flashing lights and signs on school buses or suffer the consequences of the law! We need to stop these evaders and keep this story off of the next Ridiculog!
