FAMILY ALWAYS TRUSTS THAT WHEN THEIR LOVED ONES THAT HAVE TO GO INTO INSTITUTIONAL CARE LIKE HOSPITALS AND NURSING HOMES, THAT THEY WILL BE TREATED LIKE HUMAN BEINGS AND BE LOOKED AFTER WITH ALL THE DUE DILIGENCE THE PATIENT DESERVES! IT IS BECOMING ALL TOO COMMON LIKE THE LADY IN THIS STORY WHERE THEY ALL OF A SUDDEN ARE IN IMMENSE PAIN AND THE FAMILY HAVE TO FIND OUT WHY! Lola Chiasson Hawkins had a fall in her home that necessitated surgery. Her sons Steven and Wayne wondered why their mother had so much additional pain......found out that there was a bed sore so bad it went down to the bone! My Dad when he was in the Regional hospital had a real bad bed sore, not like Lola's but it seems that these bed sores happen all too easy with pressure points on the body and so much time spent in bed for the patients. There needs to be inquiries into these matters to come up with a better way to care for individuals who have to spend a lot of time in bed int he hospital or nursing home. Bed sores not treated properly can lead to sepsis or spreading infection....can lead to death. I know that staff turn patients and put pillows etc under their back and bottoms but bed sores happen quick, get infected and lead to death in some cases. Time for action....in Lola's case a special machine was brought in to take out the infection and fluids and add antibiotics....as of this posting....there is improvement in her condition!
