THIS WEEK WE'RE BACK AT THE REGIONAL HOSPITAL....SO SAD....REGIONAL IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST HOSPITALS IN NB AND PROFESSIONALLY RUN BUT THINGS FALL BETWEEN THE CRACKS!! May 28th a dementia patient at the Saint John Regional Hospital was found laying in his own feces for a long period of time! This is so sad ! Apparently it happened at nurse shift change and it left a shortage in staff for some patients ! This is not the first of its kind and will not be the last....there is an investigation into the matter. I could write a book about how my Dad was looked after in the Regional! The two worst incidents that took place was when my father was in 3CN and my girlfriend was able to go down to check on him. His head had fallen straight down on a table when staff had got him into a chair so he could read magazines. My girlfriend said that he was like this for hours . When we got in, he was back in bed in preparation for mealtime! He had bruised his nose and bruising was all over his face...for hours!!!??? Who does regular checks? Next was when he was taken to imaging for an X-ray....he came back with strong impressions of a person's hand on his chest! This I think should have been grounds for a law suit. I don't care how bad their dementia is.....your job is to handle patients with as much care as you can! We need to make sure these incidents don't happen! We need to keep this off the next Ridiculog!
