A recent news story explains that here in the Maritimes beef prices spiking is a direct result of leaving us a little short of supply in order to export to the States. This reasoning makes sense. You need to expand your market in order to make a living. It also presents the problem of skyrocketing meat prices. In a story also some time ago about beef prices, it tells us to buy more pork , chicken and fish. With the exception of pork chops being offered at only $1.29 / lb at the Superstore in the North End, chicken, pork and even fish is a lot higher now. We were warned also a few weeks ago about meat prices in general going up about 10%.. "Recently , I saw in Olson's on the West Side, a beef roast for $28. / kg, outrageous! The worst , both my girlfriend and I saw was a few years ago with 2 average size t-bone steaks for $36. for the package , it was a touch over a kg in waight, or about $16./lb. Meat prices are going up and up right onto the Ridiculog!
