Fog Blog Ridiculog:

RESIDENTS OF SAINT JOHN ARE ALWAYS SUBJECTED TO RUTS AND RAISED MANHOLE COVERS FOR WEEKS ON END, EVEN ON BUSY THOROUGHFARES WHEN IT COMES TO THE CITY MILLING THEN REPAVING....I KNOW FOR MYSELF IT IS FRUSTRATING! YOU TRY TO DO A DANCE AROUND THESE HAZARDS! THE CITY'S ANSWER IS TO SPRAY PAINT ORANGE , THE MANHOLE COVERS ETC. AS THE ANSWER FOR WEEKS AND WEEKS OF FRUSTRATION FOR MOTORISTS! I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A SYSTEM PUT IN PLACE BY CITY ENGINEERS TO REBUILD AND RENEW CITY STREETS.........but wait.....other cities have their struggles to rebuild streets and neighbourhoods too! On my recent trip to Ontario, I noticed areas in the north eastern US on highways and city streets that were milled! I really like the method they use. The areas milled have all the machinery and trucks ready, they mill , then the pavers and dump trucks full of asphalt get to work laying the new pavement! Finally they put down the new lines! I saw this in action on a highway. It must have been as long as a few miles......on first approach , you are driving on the new pavement already with lines....... at the end of it ....the traffic is funneled through one lane as the're just milling or paving there! The system works! I know that this wouldn't work everywhere but maybe here in Saint John a little change in the system to get these roads paved quicker in order to lessen the amount of time with raised potholes is in order

or this may again raise the ire of the Ridiculog!
