MORE 1860 ERA HOUSES UPTOWN ON UNION TO BE DEMOLISHED!! Shame, Shame....SAINT JOHN!! ....here we go again!! Just after the Jellybean houses on Well. Row were torn down , I was standing today where they stood, to get the back of the houses , now these 1860 era houses on Union are slated to be demolished....but on the news not all councilors are on board!!! Hats off to the female councilor that represents the area uptown, on the news she said....paraphrasing....Do visitors , tourists to the area want to go uptown to see the rich Saint John history and look at box stores or empty lots?? This councilor

and a few others are not on board with tearing down these 150 plus year old houses. I know , because I saw close up...that they are in disrepair. Paving the way to modernize our city is important but so is spending money to preserve the background , history and flavour of our historic city. City of Saint John you lose again and are in the disfavour of many!! Likely you will be back on the Ridiculog soon!! This photo was taken just hours ago, skies were clearing and the pic turned out good.....demolition is slated for later in the month, maybe this coming week!
