ROBERT OSBORNE , HOST OF TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES FOR 22 YEARS DIED THIS PAST MONDAY AT THE AGE OF 84! Osborne was the first host when TCM went on the air 22 years ago! Robert Osborne died of natural causes in his sleep, Monday. He was born in 1932 and died this year in 2017. Ben Mankiewicz who usually did early daytime and weekend hosting said of Osborne that he was his mentor and learned a lot off of him. Robert Osborne was a big movie buff and historian, he will surely be missed! My Mom loved his hosting, I was a fan too! There are tributes pouring in from the acting world. He was a friend with many actors present and past that are still with us....he is survived by his same sex spouse.
